Fill me in....

Yay!!! It's Fill in the Blank Friday, which also means.....it's FRIDAY!!! Woot woot! I decided to e-mail some of my own questions to the lovely Lauren, at The Little Things We Do, never thinking she would actually use them. Well she totally did and I'm so excited.

If you want to play, leave a link on Lauren's blog and support the participating bloggers. GO!

1.   When I was a kid I wanted to be an art teacher when I grew up.

2.   As an adult, my dream job would be thrift store/small bakery owner. I also want my own teen youth program.

3.  When I was younger I wanted to be just like my mom. Which is such a cliche response but a true one nonetheless. My mom was a 5th grade teacher and being "Mrs. Cobb's" daughter made me a star at her school. I saw her in her element, laughing, joking and shaping the kids in her class. Being a shop owner is important to me because I want my future kids to see me in my element, being abundantly happy, bragging to their friends saying, "That's my mom."

4. The childhood Halloween costume that I remember most was when I dressed up as a bunny rabbit and ballerina when I was 3 and 4. Why? Because my mom made and wore the same costumes.

5.  My favorite childhood toy was my Little Tikes dollhouse. Living off of a teacher and assistant chef's salaries didn't leave a lot of expendable income so I didn't have A LOT of Barbies or her expensive accessories growing up. I remember the dollhouse though (a thrift store score for my mom if I remember correctly) and surprisingly, we had every piece of furniture, car, person imaginable. Goodness, I just remember being so amazed, I could literally dream up whatever I wanted.

6.  The time I got into the biggest amount of trouble when I was a kid was when I  called my teacher the "B" word on the playground. LOL....ooops! I was beating everyone in tetherball and she stopped the games to tell me to go back to the line. At first I wasn't ashamed to tell this story but now, looking back on it, what a crazy little kid I was!!!! I didn't say it to her face if it matters, I muttered it when I walked off angry. Unfortunately, she heard me. I was in the 2nd grade BTW. Bwahahaha...sigh.

7.  I get daily inspiration from all the usual stuff, but most of the time I get my inspiration from daydreaming about my future.

What do you guys have planned this weekend?
Whatever it is, be safe, buckle up and call a taxi if you'll be partying.

DIY: Homemade Febreze...

Febreze makes a scent with a touch of Downy and when I found out I stocked up!!!!

(I think I've mentioned before but if you can't remember, I'm OBSESSED with the smell of clean laundry. My perfume of choice is actually called Clean "Warm Cotton". Ah-maaaaaaze-ing)

Anyway, about a year ago Febreze changed their recipe, or something, because the Downy scent didn't smell like Downy anymore. It had a weird after smell. Blah.

Since I was hooked on having that type of product in the house, I got creative.....

(Mmmmwahh ahhh ahhh ahhhhh)

Here's my recipe for your own DIY Febreze.

You'll need:

- an empty spray bottle
- your choice of liquid laundry detergent
- enough boiling water to fill up spray bottle, plus a little more (evaporation peeps)
- measuring cup

1. Boil enough water to fill your empty spray bottle

2. Use your measuring cup and pour 1/4 cup of liquid laundry detergent in bottle

3. In your kitchen sink, pour boiling water in spray bottle. Continue to pour until frothy suds overflow out of bottle

4. Let the bottle stand and cool before placing spray bottle top on (the heat of the water might melt the spray tube)

5. Wa-La!!!! Your own, custom made, scented Febreze.

Spray it on everything! In the car, to refresh laundry, on a bed spread, in gym shoes, on carpet before vaccuming, a pet bed. Anything!

Have fun!

Love.

Le weekend....

I decided to post pics of this weekend because despite today, I had a great weekend.

Out on the town with the bestie, China.

A fleet of magazines ready for me to read. Inspiration. Salivate.

A couple of bouquets from a special someone.

Running shoes I bought myself for my birthday.

Peanut butter oreo inspired cupcakes my cousin made for my b-day. They were delish.
(I hate when I say half a word. Delish. Please stop.)

The Hello Kitty cake my four little sisters got me.
They didn't have 27 candles for me to blow out, which was great cause it might have made me cry.

Love.

Just one of those days....

I saw this picture late last night on my Reader and loooooved it.

(not knowing it was a foreshadow of today)

This statement can be taken as seize the moment, live life, never think twice!!! Or, on the most challenging of days, it can mean, be blessed, stay focused, be happy, "This day will neeeeeever happen again."

For the past couple of years, my birthdays have served as more of a self reflecting moment, then a prelude into my new year. After the parties die down and candles are out, my thoughts are the only things I'm left with. I can't figure out if it's a good thing or a bad thing. All I know is, it's a "thing".

I had numerous packages to send out for the Etsy shop this morning, so I spent most of last night preparing for my day ahead. Gym bag (check). Work clothes laid out (check). Lunch/snacks packed (check). Etsy packages addressed and labeled (check). Today was the Monday my 27th year started off organized and thought out. Duh. I'm an adult after all.

Pheesh please.......this is life. Real life.

My alarm didn't go off. I woke up to a break out the size of the Milky Way on my forehead and my hair was doing this weird curly, flippy thing in the back.

WTF!!!!!! I'm an adult!!!!!!!!!! I prepared!!!!!!!! I'm 27!!!!!!!!!

Then, to top it alllllll off, I go to grab the Etsy packages, neatly stacked by the front door, and the first thing I feel are the contents of the bottom package slip through my fingers and fall to the floor. Apparently I folded the box up, but I didn't tape the bottom. Glass shatters and my heart breaks as I see the hot pink plates and bowls I just sold, spread out on the floor. Those are one of a kind people. They come as a set. How do I explain this to the buyer???!!!!

I had a thought to leave them there, to pretend nothing happened, but I couldn't have my 90 year old Aunt and pint size Yorkie walking on broken glass all day. I'm an adult. With 15 minutes til I'm supposed to be to work, in heels and a pencil skirt, I'm picking up hot pink pieces, vacuuming, and trying to hold back tears of frustration and angst.

The only thing I could think of was, "No tears. Get to work, talk to the client, get off work and realize this day will neeeeeeeever happen again."

I still want to cry but I got through today and I'm going to stay positive for tomorrow because you know what? I'm an adult and that's what we do. Cheers to a better day tomorrow.......

Love.
